When bourgoise a pundit like Nat Hentoff acknowledges war crimes and talks about trials you can be sure this administration is in worse than trouble. Impeachment or not, being in office or not, Cheney, Bush, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, Rove, Gonzales and others will be held accountable for crimes against humanity. The reality of a broken empire cannot protect them. For the US to ever regain international credibility, these trials must go forward and these criminals must be handed over to International Legal authorities. We must also try those in charge of the media machine for their complicity in promoting a criminal agenda.

Conspiracy Thinking vs Rationality

At the risk of being considered a blasphemer or a sellout, (actually I am a blasphemer) I want to address conspiracy thinking. With a secretive adminstration of thugs who will stop at nothing, it is easy for us to fall into the mire of conspiracy thinking -- and cospiracies do exist, but most are not that hard to see through. The major focus of conspiracy thinking is the attack of September 11th. I too have given this much thought and examination and the physical evidence rules against an inside job. I think we who revere rationality and science must consider that beyond our wishes and projections. On the other hand, that does not let this administration off the hook or say that anything they aver is worthy of acceptance. I believe there is passive complicity at the highest levels. They had a detailed information of all but the date from both inside the government and abroad. That they decided it was more beneficial to their nefarious plans to let it happen makes them as guilty as the planners and hijackers. And they are guilty.

The problem with conspiracy thinking is that it delegitimazes us when we are right and makes us look like nutcases. I have found that once people buy into one major conspiracy they logically follow it to others and before long are so wound up in unprovable and often nutty theories that they become irrational, paranoid, and distracted from the real and more obvious issues which are bizarre enough.

As for 9/11: It's time we settle on complicity, demand a thorough independent investigation of that, and move on to other provable crimes that these monsters must be punished for -- there are plenty of them in the rational world.

The War is Going Well?!

The new line for the neocon dupes is that "we" are seeing "progress" in Iraq and that "victory" is in sight. I can't imagine what "victory" or "winning" could possibly mean at this point but despite the rhetoric, (meant to stave off policy change and boost a failing market) Iraqi deaths have doubled since this time last year.

Shilling for War

Though I believe that there are many obstacles, foreign and domestic, which stand in the way of the neocon junta's plan to attack Iran, they are going all out to create consent. Their propaganda mouthpiece, FOX is replaying the same lies and distortions that lead to the illegal invasion and destruction of Iraq. We have to go all out to counter these lies and to pressure other, media not to continue their criminal complicity in knowingly promoting the murderous lies of a fascist cabal bent on a maniacal agenda of mass murder.

Neolibralism Gives Way to Marxism

As the destructive juggernaut of global corporate dictatorship wreaks havoc on the planet, old truths are being reborn and consolidated in the South America. Especially Venezuela where the People are building Marxism for the 21st century. We could learn much from our southern neighbors.

On or Off -- War with Iran?

We keep hearing the drumbeat for war against Iran but deadlines pass and nothing happens. Personally I think that it won't happen -- not that Cheney and Bush wouldn't love to unleash an expansion of their megacrime. What's Obstructing War on Iran? To begin with, they aren't an easy victim. Iran is armed to the teeth and has many allies including China and Russia. Not only is our military broken but the cost of the debacle in Iraq is leaving us all but broke. The military knows the odds, the cost, and the likely results and may not be willing to follow orders. It is possible that the neocons will attack Iran before leaving office to assure the continuation of their delusionary middle east strategy but if Clinton of Obama are the Dim candidates they know that won't be necessary. I could be wrong but I don't think an attack on Iran will happen -- at least not directly.

Iran, Israel & Jews. Lies Exposed

A good article here regarding myths and realities used to vilify Iran as and antisemitic state endangering Israel. While the article points out that a small number of the 25,000 Iranian Jews have migrated to Israel, it fails to mention that some have returned to Iran. I am glad it contains information about the nefarious ways Israel has tried to created anti-Jewish backlashes and crises in other countries to convince Jews to emigrate. The leaders of Iran's ancient Jewish community are right to separate Zionism from Judaism comparing it to Taliban or Wahabi extremism. Zionism is a disease of modern Judaism that creates antisemitism. It is not a requirement of the religion and more Jews are beginning to recognize this.
