Justice is Inescapable

Just as criminals like Pinochet and Fujimori were hounded internationally for their crimes, our criminal misleaders will have to face justice. Rumsfeld recently found this out while visiting France where he was faced with a lawsuit for his part in ordering torture. Here too the calls for impeachment and justice are growing louder, especially as their nefarious plans to attack Iran are being exposed. Pelosi, Feingold and others need to be told that should Iran be attacked, they will be held personally responsible for complicity because they did nothing to remove a criminal junta from power or to stop the premeditated mass murder and abuse of power of this administration. They too will have no place to hide.

Moving Towards Fascism

We often hear that it is alarmist and unacceptably radical to compare our government to fascist Germany but as Naomi Wolfe points our we are clearly and undeniably on that path. Beg Brother is ever more intrusive from tapping our phones to inspecting our bank accounts. The National Security State sets the stage for fascism and was put in place with the influence of SS members brought here in 1945 (before the end of WWII) by John Foster Dulles. The present as always is the result of the past but the future is up to us. We must operate on two fronts. We must organize a real progressive opposition that challenges the corporatocracy for power while educating the public, and we must organize our own independent institutions outside of the system.

Independent Run vs Electoral Boycott

I have been pushing for us to unite around not only an alternative candidacy but an alternative platform that reflects populism, honesty, accountability and progressive values. I doubt that this will happen. I know I will not vote for a Clinton or Obama and have often pointed out that the wolf is better than the wolf in sheep's clothes for two major reasons: Firstly, the wolf in disguise (the Dem) will do much of the same in following a corporate, anti-people agenda. Secondly, they will be under constant attack by the right and any progressive movement will fall apart as not to join the right in their attack. Clinton or Giuliani? Who cares? Better the obvious fasciRather than just not showing ust as far as building a real movement. On that note, an article advocating an electoral boycott, while troubling, makes some sense. If we aren't going to buy into the selection and expose it by running a complete independent ticket, maybe better to boycott the whole sham. Rather than just not showing up, a boycott would be a more effective statement if we went to the polls in record numbers and cast blank ballots in protest.

CIA Drug Running Continues

Looks like the same old dirty CIA drug running is continuing. Back in the 80's under Reagan the CIA was known to be involved in the drug business which it used to fund operations off the books like the use of mercenary "contras" against Nicaragua. This was nothing new even then, the CIA has a long history of drug running. Meanwhile at home, the so-called "war on drugs" has resulted in the US having the largest percent of its population in prison of any county and even law enforcement officials are against it.
